Later life is filled with wonderful experiences for many, including the chance to enjoy retirement, spend more time with family, and being able to set your own schedule. Most adults age well, and find their later years to be incredibly satisfying.
However, life can also bring challenges that may keep a person from being able to fully enjoy their later years. Financial strain, physical illness, loss of a partner, family member, or pet, and family conflict can affect many older people.
Fortunately, there is a program that can help. Senior Reach is a program of Jefferson Center that offers counseling and care management services in the home to adults 60+ who live in Jefferson, Clear Creek, Gilpin, Boulder and Broomfield counties.
Senior Reach provides short-term support (up to 12 sessions) to help seniors stay independent in their homes and learn new coping strategies to adjust to life’s changes. Our counselors have specialized experience in working with older adults to build on their strengths and help them feel empowered and hopeful about the future.
Anyone can make a referral for someone they are concerned about. If you’ve noticed a family member, neighbor, or friend isn’t quite the same—maybe they’ve stopped going out to social activities, or their appearance is more disheveled than usual—you can call Senior Reach and they will help guide you through the process of getting that person connected to services.
If you would like to speak to someone about the challenges in your life, or if you know someone who might benefit from extra support, we invite you to call Senior Reach. They can schedule a free emotional and mental wellness assessment. Senior Reach staff also has information about local resources that may be helpful for your specific situation, such as transportation and minor home repair.
