Introduction
Dr. Kim comes to New West Physicians as a well-traveled, academically-decorated physician.
Prior to joining New West, he served as a White House Fellow in Washington, DC where he was one of 19 fellows selected for this prestigious program. Prior to his fellowship, he served with multiple community-health organizations while working through his residency and medical degree. Some of those include the MA Executive Office of Elder Affairs in Boston, the Liberian Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in Monrovia, Liberia, and as the co-founder and then President of a medical education non-profit in Juba, South Sudan.
He is described as contemplative, caring, and kind. His care philosophy is to go beyond the medical system’s tendency to confine and objectify patients as abstractions and instead to see each person as “a moral universe within themselves” (Elie Wiesel).
“Before walking into each room, I strive to remember that I am walking into the presence of the beloved… Healing is divine work.”
As an integral balance to his professional work, Andrew enjoys writing poetry, backpacking in solitude, skiing, learning languages, nerding out on sci-fi and graphic novels, and exploring contemplative traditions across world religions.
