The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recognized Golden-based New West Physicians as a “2017 Million Hearts Hypertension Control Champion”.
The honor was bestowed on 24 physician groups from around the country who through their care initiatives have reached blood pressure control rates of 70 percent or greater for their adult patients.
New West Physicians has achieved an 83 percent hypertension control rate.
The Million Hearts project is a national initiative with the goal of preventing 1 million heart attack and strokes over a five year period.
It is jointly sponsored by CDC and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
