Park Ridge Family Medicine – Lead Medical Assistant

Summary: The Back Office Lead / Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of all back desk areas. These areas include phlebotomy, medical assisting, medical procedures, phone triage, Protocols for EMR, managed care referrals, and X-ray services.

Education, Skills and Abilities:• At least three years experience in supervising clinical functions in a medical office or other health care setting• Proficient in all medical assisting and triage procedures• Proficient in the proper use of medical equipment and instrumentation• Possesses working knowledge in the application of quality assurance techniques to established medical practice standards• Possesses excellent patient care service skills• Possesses the ability to plan, organize, evaluate and supervise complex methods and procedures• Skilled in developing effective working relationships with others• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision• Graduate of an accredited school of medical assisting or nursing• CPR certification• Must have the ability to lift, carry, push and pull objects up to ¬30 pounds, using appropriate body mechanics. • Requires sitting, standing, and general moving around in room. • Must possess basic knowledge in dealing with potential hazardous working conditions in which individual may be exposed to a risk of bodily injury through contact with moving instrumentation, chemicals, and/or body fluids Equipment/Tools Used:• Multi-line phone• Computer with IDX/GPMS and other various software• Lab equipment• Fax• Copier• Printer• Centricity• Allscripts• Scanning

Essential Responsibilities:Operations

1. Supervises the day-to-day functioning of all clinical areas of the practice, working closely with and taking direction from the providers and practice manager.2. EMR protocols will be created per provider request and direction; final protocols will be reviewed, approved and signed-off by providers. 3. Will provide back office employees with up-to-date EMR protocols. And will be responsible for assuring proper adherence to the protocols at all times by the staff.4. Assures the clinical areas are ready and appropriately staffed for patient care each day the practice is open for business.5. Assures a pleasant, clean and safe environment for employees, providers, and patients.6. Assures medical supplies are available to ensure continuity in patient care and to support the practice style and preferences of the providers.7. Provides a communications link with the Management Services Organization (MSO) in a way that ensure mutually beneficial decision making.


1. Assists PM to ensure staffing levels are adequate to meet fluctuations in daily patient load for all clinical functions. Monitors time cards for appropriate documentation of hours worked. Reviews Overtime to improve staff utilization. 2. Assist with Hiring, training, and motivating clinical personnel, working closely with the practice manager to assure consistent and fair personnel practices are applied to all employees. Develop and conduct orientations to new back office staff members. Conduct periodic evaluations of staff members.3. Assists with performance appraisals in a timely manner and assures they are done for all employees according to New West policies. Role model for cooperative and accountable behaviors.
