When you or a family member is sick or injured, New West is here to help. During office hours we will do our best to get you in for an appointment. If it’s after hours, Call Us First — a New West physician can be contacted 24/7, 365 days a year.
Our on-call doctor will help you determine if your situation calls for a next day appointment or whether you need an Urgent Care center or Emergency Room (ER), and if so, which location is best. A list of Preferred Urgent Care centers is available at www.nwphysicians.com. Click on Locations or Services to find an Urgent Care center near you.
According to the 2017 Colorado Health Access Survey (CHAS), 36.4 percent of emergency room patients were seen for something that could have been treated by their primary care provider or an urgent care facility.
Urgent Care centers can not only help with fevers, flu and cold symptoms, earaches, allergies and bronchitis, but they are also well-equipped to manage more serious conditions like broken bones or cuts that need stitches.
Making the right choice can save time and money.
In Case of a True Emergency
If your illness or injury is life-threatening or a true emergency, call 911 or proceed to a hospital-based Emergency Room. These are fully integrated systems with all the necessary equipment and specialists under one roof. If convenient, choose one of our preferred hospitals that have hospitalists who will continue to guide your care: Lutheran Medical Center, St. Anthony Hospital, Porter Adventist, Swedish Medical and Littleton Hospital.
True emergencies include:
- Unexpected or unexplained chest pain
- Stroke symptoms
- Shortness of breath
- Uncontrollable bleeding
- Major broken bones
- Seizures
Free-Standing Emergency Rooms – Don’t be fooled!
Free-standing ERs charge hospital emergency room rates that are a lot more expensive than an Urgent Care clinic visit.
- Average cost of an ER visit: $1,500
- Urgent care visit ranges:
$30-$150
