Hospitalists

In 2006, New West Physicians hired our own “hospitalists” who see all New West patients when they are hospitalized at our primary hospitals: Exempla Lutheran Medical Center, and St. Anthony Central and North Hospitals. These seven physicians and one nurse practitioner coordinate our patients’ care on behalf of the primary care physicians. Their role can range from medical oversight in a surgical patient to being the attending physician with medical admissions.

It is a widely accepted philosophy that the care provided to patients by physicians that are specialty-trained in the care of hospitalized patients improves the quality and continuity of care, reduces the incidence of complications, and helps avoid unnecessary extended lengths of stay and readmissions.
